In 2016, a 73-year-old woman name Daljinder Kaur gave birth to a baby boy named Armaan. The couple, who come from Amritsar in Punjab, North India, went through three IVF attempts before they finally had little Armaan.

Although he was tiny, Armaan was born a healthy boy. Daljinder didn’t really care. What mattered is that Armaas was now here. Instead, what mattered to her was something we found rather interesting. Read more to find out how this story goes.
A Married Couple
Meet the protagonists of our story, Daljinder and her husband, Mohinder. The couple had been together for more than 50 years. They met in Amristar, and they still live their to this day. The couple had always wanted children, but they were unsuccessful in their endeavors.

It was impossible for Daljinder to get pregnant naturally, so eventually, the couple lost all hope of ever having children. However, this was all going to change. One day, they met someone with an interesting proposal.
Attempting IVF
This person they met suggested IVF to the couple. They knew it was a tiring and tricky process, but they still wanted to give it a go. Specialists tried providing help in more than one day, until, one day, it finally worked.

After the third IVF attempt, Daljinder became pregnant. The man who ran the clinic, Anurag Bishnoi, was initially doubtful about it. But when the tests showed the woman was indeed capable of carrying a child without any complications, he decided to go for it. There was no age limit for IVF in India, so Daljinder was able to undergo treatment.
No Matter What
According to Daljinder, “People mainly talk about what will happen to the child when I and/or my husband die, but I have full confidence in God. He will take care of everything.” It was clear that the couple still wanted to become parents no matter how old they get.

There was a slight problem, though. Daljinder wasn’t sure what her actual age was. It was a common problem in India to not receive birth certificates, so Daljinder always assumed she was 70 years old. However, the clinic said she was actually 72, not 70. That didn’t stop Daljinder from undergoing IVF, though.
A Child Is Born
So, in 2016, Daljinder and Mohinder’s healhty son, Armaan, was born. “God has heard our prayers. My life feels complete now and I feel full of energy,” said Daljinder, shortly after little Armaan was born.

Unfortunately, a few years after his birth, Daljinder has expressed that her body is not strong enough to take care of Armaan. People have criticized Daljinder for proceeding with the pregnancy. However, Daljinder has no regrets about the decision she made.
Adriana Iliescu
Daljinder and Mohinder’s story wasn’t a rare case. In 2005, Adriana Iliescu, then 66 years old, had her first child. She was named the oldest new mother in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records. Although someone broke the record a few years later, it still doesn’t discredit Adriana’s special story.

Ariana’s biggest dream was to have children, but suddenly she was incapable of doing so for many years. Before she finally bore her first baby, she experienced the many highs and lows life throws at us.
Fond Of Children
Adriana had always had a soft spot for children. In fact, she was so fond of kids that she was a children’s book writer during her younger years. She also worked at the primary school in the hometown she grew up in.

It pained Adriana to know that due to all the circumstances, having children was next to impossible for her. She had always dreamed of becoming a mom and watching her child become a successful adult. Sadly, this was a dream she couldn’t fulfill.
Her Dream Man
It didn’t help that Adriana had not been with anyone for more than 40 years. She had only been married once in her life, and it was with her first true love… or so she thought. What she didn’t know was that life had other plans for her.

When Adriana met her future husband, she believed he was the man of her dreams. She could picture herself growing old with him, so eventually, they got hitched. She was only 20 then and had her whole life ahead of her.
Failed Marriage
Unfortunately, the marriage ended after four years. Adriana had discovered that the man of her dreams was cheating on her. She was so pained by the adultery that she immediately demanded for a divorce.

It was because of this traumatic experience that Adriana had lost her faith in men. Being cheated on took a huge toll on her self-confidence. She wasn’t sure if she was willing to open up to another man ever again.
Remembering Her Wish
As years went by, Adriana realized she couldn’t find it in her to trust another man whom she wanted to stay together with. The older she became, the lower her chances of ever being a mother became.

She was on her own for 40 years because she couldn’t find the right partner. When she finally reached the age of 50, it finally sunk in that she had no more chance of ever bearing children. The years had passed and she missed her chance.
A Full Life
Adriana believed she wasn’t ever going to meet anyone. She had missed her chance, she thought. However, she saw it as a wasted opportunity because she certainly didn’t live like a hermit. On the contrary, she lived a full life.

Besides her ex-husband, there hadn’t been anyone who she considered a good partner. But on a Thursday afternoon, she was out meeting a friend. Eventually, the conversation shifted into one that caused Ariana to reconsider her options.
One Last Attempt
The conversation between Adriana and her friend was about the different ways a woman could get pregnant. It was always her greatest joy to bring a child into the world, so when she found out she had one last shot, she felt hopeful.

The friend mentioned a doctor who might be able to help. She handed Adriana a small piece of paper with a telephone number written on it. As it turned out, it was the phone number of the most respected doctor in the country.
Calling The Doctor
When her friend left, Adriana picked up the phone and rang the doctor immediately. The phone rang twice before someone picked it up. The person on the other end of the line sounded friendly and helpful.

Adriana explained her difficult circumstance to the doctor. Afterwards, he gently said there was always a chance for people like her, even though the odds were sometimes not great. In this case, it was her age.
There Was Still Some Risk
Even with her age, there was still hope for her. However, a pregnancy at this age didn’t come without any risk. But Adriana understood that. Nevertheless, with the doctor’s aid, she wanted to give this a shot.

It took 9 years of receiving fertility drugs, but finally, she got pregnant. Here’s the kicker: she was pregnant with twins! She was now 65, but, for her, it was no big deal. At last, it seemed like she would finally get to fulfill her wish of becoming a mother.
Giving Birth
The months passed. One day on the 16th of January, 2005, the little ones were eager to see the world, and so the contractions began. Hours later, Adriana gave birth to twin children. Sadly, the other child was stillborn. But the one that survived, she named Eliza Maria.

She had been waiting for many, many years, and she finally got her wish. The news of her birth spread around the hospital like wildfire. Soon enough, news companies got hold of the news and wanted to see Adriana.
Public Opinion
With the spread of the news came public opinion. Some people thought Adriana was an irresponsible for choosing to undergo a pregnancy even at this age. However, Adriana shut down all negative comments and paid no attention.

She had been wanting this all her life. She wasn’t about to let the public take that joy away from her. To protect herself and her daughter, she avoided going out and about, but this wasn’t always possible. Eventually, Eliza turned four and needed to start school.
Annoyed
Although there was a 66-year age gap between Adriana and her daughter, the two still shared a bond that was like any regular parent and child. Still, people continued to make comments about them and gave them cold stares.

Adriana had enough of it and decided to give a one-off interview to finally have her side of the story heard. She thought it was unfair that people decided to make all these comments without listening to her reason behind doing it.
Rare Chance
During the interview, Adriana spoke out about the people who condemned her for the best choice she made. All this time, she had been yearning for a child, and since the opportunity was there, she didn’t want it to go to waste.

Although she was in her late 60s, she didn’t find anything special about the situation. “My daughter and I are just people trying to make the best of it,” Adriana said. She was right. She finally got what she want, and now she wanted to savour every opportunity.
Hoping To Be Left Alone
By doing the interview, Adriana hoped that people would finally understand her side of the story and leave her alone so she could regain her peace. Fortunately, it worked and people left her alone after the interview was released.

Now Eliza is fifteen and is in high school. Adriana is now 81. She enjoys her resting times and spends most of her days indoors. Their bond is as strong as before and the mother-daughter pair love each other so much.
Feeling Young
Although Adriana is 81, having a teenage daughter helps her feel younger than her age. Shortly after Eliza was born, Adriana said she felt fit and healthy. On top of that, she had never experienced any diseases.

“If I can live as long as my parents, I will be with her until she is 20,” Adriana said during the interview. What we wonder is what Eliza thinks about this huge age gap between her and her mother.
Not An Issue
For Eliza, her mother’s age didn’t matter at all. “The only thing I find annoying is that Adriana is often mistaken for my grandmother,” she said. Although she does understand why people think that, given their age gap.

The stories of Adriana and Daljinder prove that it is never too late for us to chase our dreams. It’s amazing to see these women so determined to get the one thing they’ve been dreaming of all their life, even if it meant risking their life.
