Intel Plans To Take Designs And Manufacture Chip Subcomponents From External Factories
Intel is still one of the semiconductor firms that designs and manufactures its chips. But now they are planning to source chips from outside firms. It seems they are trying to prevent further erosion of its chip market share.

Recently Intel shared new details about its turnaround strategy. They are planning to source subcomponents of its chips from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).

Till now Intel is Intel has been designing and manufacturing its chips. But currently, they lost their lead in the market due to missteps in their manufacturing operations. Now Intel said that their new “Ponte Vecchio” chip will use key tiles made with TMSC’s chipmaking technology.

Earlier this year, Intel Chief Executive Pat Gelsinger shared the company’s strategy to regain its manufacturing achievement by 2025. Now Intel is building its new “Ponte Vecchio” chip. This chip will use key tiles made with TMSC’s “N5” and “N7” chipmaking technologies. It will be used in a supercomputer the US Department of Energy.
