Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveils a humanoid robot that uses vehicle AI. The carmaker’s CEO joked, “It’s intended to be friendly.”
The humanoid robot is called the “Tesla Bot”. It will use the same AI used by Tesla’s fleet of autonomous vehicles. It is a functioning version of the robot and never made an appearance until Musk’s recent unexpected reveal.
At Tesla’s AI Day presentation, an unexpected reveal came out to the audience. Musk provided a few details about the robot in PowerPoint slides. It is a slightly creepy, Slenderman-like 5-foot-8-inch robot. This robot is expected to weigh in at 125 pounds. Musk also mentioned that the robot is built from “lightweight materials.”
Musk envisions that Tesla Bot will play an important role in changing the future of work. He said, “This, I think, will be quite profound. Essentially, in the future, physical work will be a choice. If you want to do it, you can, but you won’t need to do it.”
